Economic Stimulus Looking to encourage consumer spending in a tough economy, Snohomish Legislative District 44 Rep. Mike Hope, R-Lake Stevens, has introduced a package of five economic stimulus bills. "These proposals would help middle-class families buy cars, homes and school supplies," Hope said. "Right now, no one is buying; they're worried about the economy. I want to give them some hope and encouragement that we can turn our economic situation around." |

| 1888 Board of Trustees of Snohomish is organized The Board of Trustees of the Village of Snohomish met at the demand of E.C. Ferguson, on April 17, 1888 for the purpose of organization. Mr. Ferguson was elected chairman by the board. They met again on April 19, and appointed H. Blackman as Chief of Police with a salary of $20 per month plus $2 per arrest. |
| 1869 Isaac Cathcart comes to Snohomish Isaac Cathcart emigrated from Ireland to Michigan when he was quite young. He came to Snohomish in 1869 and worked as a chopper in a logging camp. By 1872 he had earned enough to erect the Snohomish Exchange Hotel, a large, two story building costing $6,300. He made it a first class hotel and ran it for sixteen years. |
